August 5, 2024Busan City has entered into a cooperative agreement with 11 participating organizations for the successful hosting of the tentatively named ‘October Busan Festival.’(Busan = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Soo-hee – On August 10, Busan City will hold a signing ceremony at City Hall with 11 participating institutions for a cooperative agreement to ensure the successful hosting of the ‘October Busan Festival,’ a Busan-style convergence exhibition and convention event.The agreement includes key events such as the Busan International Film Festival (including the Asian Contents & Film Market), the Busan Cultural Tourism Festival Organizing Committee (Busan International Rock Festival), the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association (Busan Fashion Week), and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency (Busan Craft Beer Festival).
In addition, participants include the Busan Design Promotion Agency (Busan Design Festival), the Busan Cultural Foundation (Busan International Performing Arts Market), the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (AI Data Seminar), Busan Technopark (FLY ASIA Startup Expo), the Busan Tourism Organization (World Creative Festival), as well as BEXCO and Lee Convention as co-organizers.
During the agreement signing, Busan City and the 11 organizations pledged mutual cooperation in the following areas:Integrated branding for promoting participating eventsStrengthening exchanges among industry professionalsSupporting the growth of the local exhibition and convention industryEstablishing and operating a permanent working-level council to foster collaborationThe October Busan Festival, which will be held for the first time this year from September 30 to October 8, is aimed at transforming the conventional, government-led structure of local events into a privately-driven industrial model.Busan City and the 11 participating organizations are planning to prepare thoroughly for the festival by establishing a working-level council, finalizing the festival name, and developing symbols and a joint application, among other key steps.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun remarked, “For Busan, which aims to become a global hub city, it’s essential to evolve into a city that naturally attracts people, rather than one that merely tries to gather them. We expect the October Busan Festival to play a key role in enhancing our city’s branding and marketing efforts.”
